River Singers fall session

WESTMINSTER WEST, Vt. – The River Singers Community Choir, led by Mary Cay Brass, will start its fall session on Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 6:30-8 p.m., at the Westminster West Church, in Westminster West, Vt. The choir, in its 36th year, is a unique, multigenerational community choir dedicated to singing an eclectic mix of soulful, thrilling music from many lands.

This season’s music will present songs of joy, love, and peace from many Eastern European countries, including Croatia and the Republic of Georgia, songs from the New England shape note tradition, and much more.

Guest musician Kathy Bullock, performer, arranger, and scholar of African American traditions; professor emerita from Berea Collage; as well as a guest professor at Bennington College, will join us for a workshop of South African and African American songs.

Choir member Andy Davis will share songs from the English pub carol tradition well known in our area from the group Nowell Sing We Clear.

The River Singers is a lively, welcoming group of curious, enthusiastic singers. If that sounds like fun to you, come join us.
