PUTNEY, Vt. – Next Stage Arts is proud to announce the opening of “Home Land,” a solo exhibition of paintings by Putney-based artist Finn Campman. The opening reception will be held on Sunday, Feb. 15, from 3-5 p.m., at the Next Stage Gallery, 15 Kimball Hill in Putney, Vt.

In “Home Land,” Campman explores the intimate relationship between place, memory, and artistic practice. “My process is about the act of reaching out to make sure I know where I am – to check my coordinates, to mark a signpost for my memories – as if to say, ‘This is where I am now,’” he explains. His paintings serve as a tether to land, time, and mood, affirming a profound connection to the environment around him. Through these works, Campman invites viewers to witness the landscape as both a personal and universal homeland.

Campman’s multifaceted career spans visual art, theater, music, and education. A Putney School alumnus, he studied printmaking, poetry, and literature at Sarah Lawrence College. Campman joined Sandglass Theater in 1991, and later founded Company of Strangers, whose production “Moth and Moon” earned a UNIMA Citation of Excellence in 1999. He has toured internationally, contributed video work for the Brattleboro Music Center, presented at three Puppetry in the Green Mountains festivals, and collaborated with Bodel Dance Arts on “Forecasts & Findings.” Currently, he focuses on painting, electronic music with his band The Brothers Chorizo, and teaching English and art at Hilltop Montessori School, where he has taught for 25 years.

“Home Land” will remain on exhibit through May 10. The Next Stage Gallery is open during events, by appointment with the artist, or by contacting Next Stage at info@nextstagearts.org or 802-387-0102.
