Javanese gamelan music at Pentangle Arts

WOODSTOCK, Vt. – Gamelan Sulukala will appear at the newly renovated Pentangle Arts Woodstock Town Hall Theatre, on Friday, March 27, at 7 p.m.

The Javanese gamelan is an orchestra of about 30 instruments ranging from huge gongs to tiny flutes, with lots of xylophone and kettle-type instruments in between, plus drumming. Currently, it is being played by a community group of 12 members who range in age from their 20s to their 70s, with every decade in between represented. If you’ve never heard a Javanese gamelan, you are in for a rare and exquisite treat. If you have, you know this concert is not to be missed.

Tickets are available at www.pentanglearts.org.
