SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Gallery at the VAULT is happy to welcome new craft artist Erica Pfister with a beautiful collection of her hand woven potholders.
Erica has always loved to weave. It has always been a joyful part of her life. She wove potholders and sold them door to door as a young child. When she was 10, she was taught by a Quaker woman how to weave her first rug. She learned from an 80-year-old grandmother how to set up and weave on a large floor loom. Since then, she has studied with professionals in the field of rug weaving.
She is part of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, weaving mostly hats, scarves, and shawls. She dyes her wool yarn with natural dyes. “The wonderful colors I get using natural dyes is exciting and I am glad they have a lesser impact on the environment. I like using weaving as a form of art with which I can produce sturdy, useful products.”
