SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – The vibrant community of Springfield is proud to announce the unveiling of a stunning new art installation along the Black River: a series of colorful aluminum salmon cutouts, celebrating the once-abundant salmon population in the area. This project not only highlights the region’s natural history, but also marks a significant step toward beautifying downtown Springfield.
Springfield on the Move extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dan O’Donnell, a dedicated resident of Springfield, and Homer Wells from New Haven, Vt., for their invaluable partnership in bringing this vision to life. Their commitment to enhancing the Springfield community’s aesthetics and engaging local artists has been instrumental in making this project a reality.
A special thanks goes to Corky and John Bond for facilitating the project, and the anonymous donors from Springfield and beyond who generously funded this initiative. Their support and dedication as volunteers for Springfield on the Move exemplify the spirit of community involvement that drives Springfield forward. While this project was not funded by Springfield on the Move, the organization remains committed to fostering beautification efforts throughout the area.
The salmon installation serves as a poignant reminder of the Black River’s ecological history, while the aluminum cutouts, adorned with transitioning colors and fabrics, create a dynamic visual experience for residents and visitors alike. This artistic endeavor not only beautifies downtown Springfield, but also enriches the community by encouraging collaboration between local residents and artists.
