PUTNEY, Vt. – Next Stage Arts presents Bywater Call, the acclaimed seven-piece Southern soul and roots rock band from Toronto, on Friday, Aug. 14, at 6 p.m., at Putney Inn Field, 57 Putney Landing Road in Putney. Gates open at 5 p.m.

Known for electrifying live performances, Bywater Call delivers a powerful, genre-blurring concert experience defined by soaring vocals, rich instrumentation, and exceptional musical chemistry. Fronted by the commanding voice of Meghan Parnell, the band combines guitar, keyboards, horns, and a driving rhythm section to create a sound that moves effortlessly from intimate, soul-baring ballads to full-throttle anthems.

Drawing on influences from classic soul, R&B, roots rock, blues, and Americana, Bywater Call has earned a devoted international following through relentless touring and unforgettable performances. The band has received UK Blues Award nominations for International Blues Artist of the Year, and praise from critics and fellow musicians alike.

Joe Bonamassa called Bywater Call “one of my favorite bands,” adding, “Meghan Parnell does a hell of a job. Put them in your playlist. Embrace it. Get the name out there.”

Classic Rock praised Parnell as “Canada’s answer to Susan Tedeschi,” while Rock the Joint wrote, “Bywater Call’s sound is a band who knows exactly who they are.”

The performance is part of Next Stage’s Bandwagon Summer Series, a family-friendly outdoor cultural performance series running from June through September. Featuring a diverse lineup of music, puppetry, and circus arts, the series brings performances to ballfields, farms, and parks throughout Putney, Brattleboro, and Bellows Falls.

Kids under 12 are always admitted free, and every Bandwagon event features a dedicated play area. Audiences are encouraged to bring a picnic, blanket, or folding chair and enjoy an evening of live performance in a relaxed outdoor setting. Refreshments, including a bar and food from Mama T’s Sweet Spot, will be available for purchase.

Tickets are discounted in advance, and free for children under 12. Advance tickets and additional information are available at www.nextstagearts.org. This performance is sponsored in part by 802 Credit Union.
