SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Avant Vermont Dance is pleased to present “SEASONS: Autumn,” a family-friendly evening of dance and interactive art-making.
The second in a four-event series, “SEASONS: Autumn” premieres on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 5-6 p.m., at Comtu Cascade Park in Springfield, Vt., with a weather date of Sept. 17. Admission is by donation.
Avant Vermont’s company of regional dancers will showcase new works of ballet and modern dance set to Max Richter’s reworking of Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons,” and music by Jon Foreman, Peter Mulvey, and Rusty Belle. Choreographed by Ashley Hensel-Browning, the program spans an accessible 25 minutes, and features additional dancers from the AVD Youth Ensemble.
Following the performance, nature artist Emily Burkland of Chester’s Community Art Garden will lead attendees in creating an interactive work of public art that will be subsequently displayed.
Set in various outdoor locations across Springfield’s historic downtown, Avant Vermont’s yearlong “SEASONS” series was created to serve as a love letter to place by exploring the seasons of the community through art. “SEASONS” debuted in June with “SEASONS: Summer.” Upcoming winter and spring installments will be staged in December and March.
Funding for “SEASONS” has generously been provided by the Vermont Arts Council, The Byrne Foundation, and Claremont Savings Bank Foundation, with support from the Town of Springfield, Springfield on the Move, and the Dance Factory.
Springfield-area nonprofit Avant Vermont Dance was founded by Ashley Hensel-Browning and Suzanne Stern, with the aim of re-imagining community through movement while engaging the public in meaningful art-making. For more information, please visit www.avantvt.com.
