WARREN, Vt. – On Friday, Jan. 11, Sugarbush Resort will host Robert Swan, OBE, for a presentation and Q&A in the Gate House Mountain View Room. The event begins with a cocktail reception and cash bar at 5:30 p.m., followed by the presentation.
Swan is one of the world’s preeminent polar explorers, having been the first person in history to walk to both the North and South Poles. He’s also an advocate for the protection of Antarctica and renewable energy, and founded 2041, a company that is dedicated to the preservation of the Antarctic. Since 2003, Swan has led annual expeditions to Antarctica to heighten awareness of the area and build advocacy to ensure its survival as a wilderness.
Swan will share his exciting experience traveling to both poles and show dramatic photos of those experiences. He will also focus on his mission to honor a lifelong commitment to preserve Antarctica by engaging, inspiring, and educating leaders across the globe to make informed and sustainable decisions. He will highlight the key elements of successful leadership while also raising awareness on climate change and the importance of adopting sustainable, renewable energy practices so Antarctica will never be exploited for its resources.
“I first met Robert two decades ago,” said Win Smith, president of Sugarbush Resort. “He is a remarkable individual and his presentation is captivating and educational. We are very fortunate to have him visit us here in the Mad River Valley.”
