The Killington Junior Golf Championship

KILLINGTON, Vt. – From July 1 to 4, Green Mountain National hosted the Killington Junior Golf Championship for the eighth year. The tournament is sponsored by American Junior Golf Association. The tournament was open to boys and girls ages 14-18, and it brought together youth from around the U.S. and the world. A field of 144 players participated in the tournament.

The qualifier took place Monday, July 1, for 100 players, of whom 14 qualified. The balance of the field was made up of players who have accumulated points from other AJGA events.

An exemption was also made for local players who compete at this level. Michael Walsh of Shelburne and Austin Giroux of Newport made the cut with scores of 76, 75, 75 and 77, 73, 79 respectively.

The qualified players participated in three rounds Tuesday through Thursday. A cut was made after the first two rounds and 50% of the field advanced to the third round.
