LUDLOW, Vt. – On June 25 and 26, Okemo Valley Golf Club hosted its annual Men’s Club Championship. The format of play was 36 holes stroke play; one 18-hole round on Saturday and one 18-hole round on Sunday. In the Championship Division, Glen Boggini held off defending Champion Jeff Williard and Chris Garvey with a winning score of 148. Williard did win 1st net with a two-day total of 137. Garvey finished 2nd gross with a 154. 2nd net was won by John Hunter at 142, and 3rd net was Jason Koponen at 147. The Men’s Senior Club Championship was won by Lou Falango with a two-day total of 146 with rounds of 74 and 72. Defending Champion Rick Marasa was 1st net, with a two day total of 134. Second gross went to Pat Moore with a two-day total of 161 and Scott Howard took 2nd net with a 144.
Okemo Valley Golf Club is Vermont’s first heathland-style golf course and was designed according to the traditions of the game. The golf club features a full-service clubhouse with patio dining at Willie Dunn’s Grille, an indoor practice facility, an 18-acre state-of-the-art outdoor training center, a fully stocked pro shop and fleet of electric carts. The layout is a par 70 that measures 6,400 yards in length and features bent grass greens, tees and fairways with multiple tee areas on each hole, ensuring playability and challenge for all ability levels. Rolling hills, moderate elevation changes and wide fairways with well-placed hazards enhance the heathland layout.
