STRATTON, Vt. – Two members of the U.S. Freeski Team and Stratton Mountain School community will be in attendance for the local premiere of the new film from Faction Skis, “The Collective,” taking place on the SMS campus Saturday, Dec. 28 at 7 p.m.
Current SMS student and the 2019 Slopestyle Crystal Globe winner Mac Forehand `20 will be in attendance to meet with audience members and sign posters alongside alumna, 2018 Olympian, and Manchester native Caroline Claire `18, also a Faction athlete. Both skiers are currently competing across the globe as members of the Pro Slopestyle contingent of the U.S. Freeski Team and are featured in “The Collective” alongside peers like Alex Hall, Mathilde Gremaud, Antti Ollila, and more.
This second feature-length film from Faction is brought to you by a cast of world-class skiers and an award-winning production team and delves into the unique, collective spirit that makes skiing so much more than just an individual sport. Whether you associate more with the idea of hair-raising ascents and descents in the Alps or the prospect of hurling your body off of an 80-foot jump, this film covers the gamut – “The Collective” salutes all forms of skiing expression.
“The Collective” is shot on location upon the high peaks of the Bernese Alps, Leysin and Saas Fee, Switzerland; through the legendary, deep-as-can-be snow of Hakuba, Japan; in the bustling streets of Helsinki, Finland; along the winding Powder Highway of British Columbia, Canada; before the picturesque sunsets of Folgefonna, Norway and around the steep, free-flowing terrain of La Clusaz, France. Faction employs stunning drone footage, Hollywood-grade stabilization technology, and awe-inspiring editing techniques to cast a beautiful light on the mind-boggling performances of its esteemed athletes, whose talents grow and transform year after year.
The film is a co-production effort with Red Bull Media House, which injects its expertise in production, post-production, and distribution. “The Collective” is also supported by Freeskier Magazine, GoPro, Hakuba Valley, and FW apparel.
This screening is the second installment in the SMS Summit Series, co-sponsored by Stratton Mountain Resort, which will bring five film series to Stratton Mountain this winter. Tickets for all SMS Summit Series events are available online or at the door, and more information can be found at www.GoSMS.org/summit-series.
