WESTMINSTER, Vt. – Warren Kelly Hayes, 62, of Westminster, passed peacefully Dec. 1, 2019 at Springfield Health & Rehab after a lengthy illness of brain and lung cancer. Warren, “Kelly,” was born Jan. 2, 1957 in Bellows Falls, the son of Joan Kelly Hayes and Warren Henry Hayes. He attended the Fall Mountain schools and was a private in the U.S. Army.
Warren made his home with his fiancée Anne Marie Lund for the past 17 years and was her caregiver when she fell ill in 2017. She predeceased him Jan. 10, 2019.
They were pet lovers and enjoyed their cat Monty and dog Cheena. They always enjoyed dog sitting. Anne and Warren called each other Archie and Edith from the old show “All in the Family.”
Warren was a quiet man who spent many summers fishing and watching the Red Sox and New England Patriots. He enjoyed his time with his grandson Bentley who he took fishing and stacking firewood. He enjoyed watching him become his own woodworker. Warren also enjoyed summer trips to Maine with Anne and their dogs. Warren was employed as a carpenter including for S.L. Moore.
Warren is survived by his grandson Bentley Hawley of Holland, Vt.; his stepdaughter Katie Searles of Holland, Vt.; and caregiver Marcy Lund-Smith of Westminster, Vt. Other survivors include sister Susan Hayes Smith of Burlington, Michael Hayes and wife Cindy of Walpole, N.H., and Timothy Hayes of Walpole, N.H. Warren’s friend of 40-plus years, Michael Ravlin of Charlestown, N.H., could always be found giving rides to medical appointments or just keeping him company after the loss of Anne Marie.
Bentley, Katie, and Marcy would like to thank the staff at the Springfield Health and Rehab for their loving and warm environment during the last nine weeks, the Visiting Nurses who provided hospice care, Westminster Cares for Meals on Wheels, and the Westminster Fire & Rescue and neighbors who checked in on Warren.
