SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Judith “Judy” A. Blish, 79, passed away unexpectedly Aug. 1, 2019 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. She was born March 22, 1940 in Saranac Lake, N.Y., the daughter of Wilbur and Thelma (Pandolph) Paton. She attended Springfield schools, graduating from Springfield High School Class of 1958. She later earned her associate’s degree from CCV.
On Aug. 20, 1966, she married Charles E. Blish at St. Mary’s Church in Springfield, Vt.
Judy was employed as a secretary with the Bryant Grinder Co. in Springfield, Vt. for 18 years and also worked as a waitress at Howard Johnsons in Springfield. She later worked as a secretary for Blish Flooring in Springfield and Readex/Newsbank in Chester.
Judy enjoyed trips to Maine with her family and loved visiting Nubble Lighthouse in York, Maine. She was an active member of the Springfield Assembly of God Church and loved doing child care at the church for services and gatherings.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years Charles E. Blish of Springfield; son Charles E. Blish II and his wife Traci of Springfield; daughter-in-law Michelle; four grandchildren Josh, Cloe, Lillie, and Ryan; two brothers John Paton of North Carolina and Christopher Paton of Springfield, Vt.; one sister Marjorie Miller of Sarasota, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, one brother Charles W. Paton, and one sister Virginia Gates, and by her son Jeffery Blish.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Springfield, Vt. Reverend Marc Aube of the Springfield Assembly of God Church will officiate.
