SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Joyce Jefts, 93, passed away peacefully at home Monday morning, Dec. 24, 2018. She was born May 5, 1925 in Jamaica, Vt., the daughter of Merton and Mildred (Marden) Perry. She graduated from Leland & Grey High School in Townshend, Vt.
On Jan. 7, 1956, Joyce was married to Robert Jefts in Jamaica, Vt. He predeceased her.
She worked building chairs at Townshend Furniture and was employed as a medical secretary in the office of Dr. Smith in Springfield for many years.
Joyce enjoyed walking, cross country skiing, swimming, and riding her bicycle. She was an active and devoted member of the First Congregational Church in Springfield for many years.
She is survived by her daughter Melanie Childs of Springfield, several nieces, nephews, and cousins and her beloved cat Daisy Mae. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Robert, son Gary R. Jefts, and brother Bud Perry.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 5, 2019 at the Oakland Cemetery in Springfield, Vt. Rev. Christine Boardman will officiate.
