Gerald P. Shaughnessy, 1928-2023

LAKE ALFRED, Fla. – Gerald P. Shaughnessy, 94, of Lake Alfred, Fla., passed away July 24, after an unexpected accident on June 8.

He was born on Sept. 26, 1928, to James W. and Doris M. (Huntoon) Shaughnessy. He attended schools in North Walpole, and was a graduate of Bellows Falls High School in 1946. He became a master electrician, owning a couple of businesses in Mystic, Conn. Later on in his life, he became a terminal manager for three different trucking companies throughout New England. He retired to Florida in 1993, and ran the pro shop in the adult community he resided in for several years.

Gerald was predeceased by a daughter Jennifer L. Shaughnessy; four brothers James, David, Paul, and “Bud” Shaughnessy; and two sisters Margaret Omholt and “Sis” Corsale. He is survived by a daughter Sharon K. Breslend; step-daughter Linda Brosseau; and three sons Gerald P. Harbour, Michael C. Shaughnessy, and Jeffrey S. Shaughnessy. He also had one grandson, five granddaughters, two great-granddaughters, and two great-great granddaughters. He was also very lucky to have several nieces and nephews who thought the world of him.

A service will be held graveside on Oct. 29, at 1 p.m., at St. Peter’s Cemetery on Drewsville Road.

Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home, 55 Westminster Street in Bellows Falls, is assisting with arrangements.
