Donna Livengood, 1939-2025

ALSTEAD, N.H. – Donna Livengood was called home by God on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025.

She was the third of seven children, born in 1939, in Hudson, N.Y., to Milton Moore and Alice (Stone) Moore.

The family moved to Keene, N.H., then settled in West Swanzey, N.H., in 1948.

Donna participated in color guard and track, and graduated from Keene High School in 1957.

In 1960, she married the love of her life Loren Livengood, while attending Keene State College. She graduated from Keene State with a bachelor’s degree in education, in 1961. She was not able to attend her own graduation, as she was giving birth to her first child, Lonn. She went on to have three more children: Lee, Lindsey, and Amy.

When the children were all of school age, she went back to school and got a master’s degree in reading, while working at the Keene State College library. She taught in several local schools as a reading specialist, and finished her career teaching English as a second language at Springfield, Vt., High School.

Donna was a member of the Third Congregational Church of Alstead, N.H. She was active in the choir, singing and playing the piano. She also was a member of the local group Yankee Bells, who sang four- and five-part acapella harmonies of songs from the 1940s and ‘50s.

Donna and Loren had a camp on Newell Pond in Alstead, where they hosted many family reunions, swimming and boating parties, and skating parties in the winter.

In the early 2000s, Loren and Donna retired to Port Charlotte, Fla., where they made many close friends and hosted many great neighborhood parties, serving comfort food to everyone who came to their home, often including breakfast for local law enforcement officers that had to work on Christmas Day.

In 2023, Donna and Loren moved back to New Hampshire, to be closer to family.

Donna is survived by her husband of 65 years Loren Livengood; her sisters Joyce Boyd (David Boyd) and Pam Oberg; her brother Sam Moore (Joyce Batchelder Moore); her sons Lonn (Louisa Murray), Lee Livengood (Melissa Livengood), Lindsey (Joy Livengood), and daughter Amy Milne (David Milne); granddaughters Elizabeth Livengood (Eric Hughes), Alison Reynolds (Christopher Reynolds), Miranda Livengood, Olivia Guastamacchio (Matteo Guastamacchio), Victoria Milne, Anna Preston, and Ella Livengood; grandsons Lloyd Livengood (Makayla Livengood), Nicholas Preston, and Peter Milne; and great-grandchildren Calvin Carpenter and Ruby Reynolds; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
