Women’s Club helping the community

BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. – Members of the Bellows Falls Woman’s Club will meet on January 10 at the United Church of Bellows Falls, School St., beginning at 1:30 p.m. They will be entertained by the children’s chorus from Westminster Center School.

December was a busy month for the club. On the 3rd, members furnished cookies for the Rotary Club sponsored family movie and time with Santa. Also that day, club members decorated the Health Center waiting room for the holidays. A small decorated tree, garlands, artificial poinsettias, table runners, and twinkling lights made the space festive and welcoming. This community service project was expanded to include the purchase of artificial greenery to be used in the indoor planters throughout the year.

The club’s December 13th meeting centered around making small holiday center pieces which were given to area agencies and group and assisted living homes.

On Dec. 14, members helped with the PTO sponsored “Shopping Mall” at Central School, where they helped wrap the gifts the children chose for their family members.  On Dec. 15, members attended the Kurn Hattin holiday luncheon and concert and made a donation to the school.

Prior to the holidays, the club made donations to two police department projects: ongoing upkeep of Caesar, the drug detecting dog, and to the Adopt an Angel program which helps ensure that children receive clothing and toys for the holiday.

Women interested in joining the club and helping with its projects may contact Barbara Comtois, 802-344-0025.
