REGION – Windsor County Head Start is recruiting for the next school year. We take children 3 – 5 years old that have turned 3 by Sept. 1, 2018. Head Start is a federally funded program that offers a minimum of 30 hours a week, five days a week, at no cost to income eligible families. Head Start supports developmentally appropriate curriculum, high-quality learning experiences, and opportunities for play and exploration. We also acknowledge the importance of caring, nurturing, and emotionally responsive interactions and relationships for children’s learning and development.

A typical day at Head Start begins with arrival, morning circle, breakfast, outside play, movement circle, free play, lunch, outside play, rest, snack, and then departure. We have a monthly curriculum and while the children are playing, we are making observations and entering them in our educational database.

Each classroom is made up of a state licensed early childhood education teacher, a teaching assistant that holds a minimum of an associate’s degree, and a teaching associate that has completed or is working on completing the Vermont State Apprenticeship Program.

We currently have centers in Chester, Springfield, and White River Jct., Vt. and are expecting to open a new center in Windsor in the next year. Please feel free to call one of our centers to enroll your child.

For Chester, call Katie, 802-875-3904; Springfield call Lindsay, 802-885-6686; White River Jct. or Windsor call Dianne, 802-295-1122. You can also contact Rose at our main office in Springfield, 802-885-6669 ext. 8106.
