BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. – The three Democratic candidates for Windham County’s two senate seats will face voters in a forum Thursday, July 19 at 7 p.m. in the Lower Theater at the Opera House in Bellows Falls.
Incumbents Becca Balint and Jeanette K. White, alongside newcomer Wayne V. Estey, will explain their positions and answer questions in a session organized by the Rockingham Town Democratic Committee and moderated by Metta McGarvey.
Voters will make their decision in the primary election Tuesday, Aug. 14 prior to the general election Nov. 6. Early primary voting began June 30.
Describing the event as “a conversation,” Rockingham Town Democratic chair Leslie Goldman said it will provide an opportunity for community members to ask the candidates questions such as what they think are the most important issues Vermont residents face and how they plan to address them.
Topics expected to be covered include health care, livable wages, school mergers, and sending Vermont inmates to other states.
There will be an opportunity at the forum for new voters to register. Young people who are currently 17-years-old but will be 18 on Election Day Nov. 6 may register and vote in the primary.
