SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Annually, all Elks Lodges hold Flag Day ceremonies at their Lodge June 14. This year Springfield Elks Lodge honored two local Eagle Scouts during their ceremony – Branden Bryant, son of Becky and David Bryant Jr., and Jason Crumb, the son of Bonnie and Sean Crumb.
Branden earned his Eagle Scout rank Aug. 15, 2018 as a member of Troop 252. Branden has been a member of his troop for six years and has held leadership positions of assistant senior patrol leader, quartermaster, scribe, and chaplains aide. Branden’s Eagle Scout project was repairing the steps, adding a railing and building horseshoe pits at the VFW. Branden plans to continue on to college at VTC to pursue a degree in automotive maintenance. Branden’s grandfather, David Bryant Sr. of West Palm Beach, Fla., is an Elks Life member.
Jason is also a member of Troop 252 and earned his Eagle Scout ranking Jan. 16, 2019. Jason has been actively involved in Troop 252 for five years and has held leadership positions of quartermaster and patrol leader. Jason’s Eagle Scout project was building a lifejacket storage bin at Stoughton Pond. Jason plans to attend a technical school to pursue certification as a linesman and hopes to eventually work for Green Mountain Power.
