Learning to live well with diabetes

SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – The Springfield Medical Care Systems Community Health Team is offering an informative educational series to help attendees learn about diabetes.

This 4-week program is an opportunity for individuals newly diagnosed with diabetes or pre-diabetes that to want to learn the best strategies to manage it successfully. This program also serves as a great “refresher” for those that have been previously diagnosed, but who may benefit from a review.

Beginnings Wednesday, Sept. 7 the class will meet from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Springfield Health Center, 100 River St. The class will continue every Wednesday in September (14, 21, and 28).

The class will cover all of the comprehensive areas of Diabetes Education, with topics that include: what is diabetes/pre-diabetes, healthy eating, being active, monitoring, taking medication, problem solving, reducing risks, and healthy coping.

Introduction to the use of goal setting and action planning will also be featured. This program will be led by a Certified Diabetes Educator and offers time for questions, answers, and discussion.
