Flat foot clogging and open mic at WTCS

TOWNSHEND, Vt. – Liana Gabel will be returning to the West Townshend Country Store (WTCS) to do a flat foot clogging workshop and host an open mic and concert on Saturday, Oct. 7. Liana is a percussive dance teacher and performer, who first came to West Townshend to help build our pizza pavilion.

Flat foot clogging is a traditional form of step dancing, related to tap dancing, which is usually done to old time fiddle tunes. As you will see with Liana, it can be done to different types of music, anything with a good beat. It is lots of fun and very energetic. The workshop will be from 3:30-4:30 p.m., and the suggested donation is $20.

Liana is also a singer, musician, and songwriter. From 5:30-7, during pizza night, she will host an open mic. She will begin with performing a few of her own songs, where she often sings, plays guitar, and dances at the same time, then invite other musicians to share their music. The flat footing workshop and concert/open mic will be held outdoors behind the WTCS, if the weather is nice, and inside if it is rainy or too cold.

This is the last Saturday pizza night of the season. Come and learn to flat foot, then kick up your heels a bit during the open mic if you want to stay for pizza night. Bring instruments and voices to share a song or two with your neighbors during the open mic, or just eat pizza and listen. It should be a really enjoyable evening.

If you want to attend the workshop, email sally.newton123@gmail.com.
