LUDLOW, Vt. – The Black River Area Community Coalition has been busy supporting our youth and community with a variety of events. In May, the coalition partnered with Black River High School and Middle School for Wellness Day, providing information on marijuana and alcohol impairment through the use of Fatal Vision goggles. They also held a question and answer session with middle school students on a variety of topics from cyberbullying to use of opioids.
Thanks to Okemo Mountain Resort, the Ludlow Rotary, and the Knights of Columbus, the coalition sponsored its 14th annual After-Prom Event at the Solitude Recreation Center. Thirty-five students attended the three-hour event enjoying use of the pools, hot tub, Ping-Pong, and refreshments. A raffle was held for all who attended.
On Saturday, June 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the coalition is sponsoring a 5K walk or run for prevention and a wellness fair at the Ludlow Community Center. Registration for the 5K begins at 8 a.m. A suggested donation for individuals and families will be donated to Turning Point of Springfield Vt. The wellness fair will include various organizations from Windsor and Rutland counties. Admission is free.
The next coalition meeting will be held Wednesday, June 19 at the Fletcher Memorial Library, at 5:30 p.m. All are invited to attend.
