N. WALPOLE, N.H. – On Saturday, Aug. 3, the Turk Aumands celebrated an impressive milestone celebration at their home up on the hill in North Walpole. This is a huge milestone for any family today – 70 years of blissful marriage between Sophie Rachiski Aumand and Ernest “Turk” Aumand.
Some 286 family members and friends attended the gathering throughout the day and into the evening. Guest came from all around, including Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, New York, South Carolina, Florida, California, and Alaska.
Sophie mentioned, “We had games of horseshoes, bean bag toss, croquette, bocce, six hours of whiffle ball, swimming for the children, and a huge buffet.”
Turk added, “To top this all off, Bellows Falls celebrated their Old Home Days with a patriotic fireworks display. What a great way to end the day.”
Both Sophie and Turk, along with their sons Smokey, Ric, and Mark, want to give a tremendous “thank you” to all who made it to the party, sent flowers or a card, and especially to those who brought dishes to share. It was a grand time to renew loving friendships and share in memories.
Sophie said, “Turk and I are so blessed to have such a loving and supportive family and such a large group of friends whom we have always considered part of our family.”
