LUDLOW, Vt. – The stone house on the corner of Commonwealth Avenue and Main Street was demolished Wednesday, Feb. 20 per the Village Vacant and Dangerous Buildings Ordinance.
The water heater in the building exploded Jan. 4, 2015 and the building was deemed an unsafe structure by the Fire Marshal after an inspection two days later.
According the Ludlow Municipal Manager Scott Murphy, there has been a six-month process leading up to demolition. “We’ve been lucky the building hasn’t fallen down before this,” he said.
M&M Excavating was in charge of the demolition.
