Wild Walkers Winter Day Camp for Ages 10 to 14
February 21 @ 9:30 am - 3:30 pm$35 – $40
GRAFTON, Vt. – Wild Walkers Camp is a partnership between The Nature Museum and Vermont Wilderness School, a Brattleboro-based nonprofit, and is a day long outdoor camp suited for youth ages 10 – 14. Snowshoeing, trailblazing, animal tracking, fire starting, and coal-burning—a method used for making spoons, bowls, and even canoes, which dates back to the First People —are a few highlights of this camp. Campers will make a “quickie” spoon. Participants who have their own sheath knife or locking-blade knife should bring it. If not, we will provide sheath knives that campers can borrow. Skilled instructors from the Vermont Wilderness School and The Nature Museum will guide campers in a safe, fun, and respectful experience. Campers will need their own snowshoes. The Nature Museum can loan snowshoes for participants who do not have their own; please ask ahead of time. Cost: $35 per child if registered by Feb. 7, $40 after. Scholarships available. For more information, visit www.nature-museum.org, or call 802-843-2111. Snow date: Friday, Feb. 22, 2019.
