GMALL Presents: In Defence of King George

July 12 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

$18 – $22

MANCHESTER, Vt. – Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) is delighted to welcome back Derek Boothby to talk about “mad” King George on Tuesday, July 12, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Burr and Burton Acedemy, Bell Tower Room at Founders Hall, 61 Seminary Avenue, Manchester. In the Declaration of Independence, King George III was accused of a long list of transgressions. Did he really deserve such treatment? He was alleged to be a tyrant and unfit to be ruler of a free people. Really? The colonists were understandably angry at the laws and taxes imposed on them from London, but should their anger be laid at the door of King George? In Hamilton, he was portrayed as a preening fop, but what was he really like? All shall be revealed in Defence of King George. This talk will be available as an in-person event as well as an online presentation via Zoom. There is a fee to register, and pre-registration is required. For more information or to register, please call our office at 802-867-0111 or visit www.greenmtnacademy.org.
