GMALL Presents – How Climate Change is Affecting Vermont’s Maple Syrup Industry
March 13 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
$22
Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) welcomes Walker Cammack, Program Director at Smokey House Center, to talk about the impacts of climate change on Vermont’s iconic maple syrup industry. Join us to learn about how rising temperatures and shorter sugaring seasons threaten both syrup production and forest health. Walker Cammack will also share insights into Smokey House Center’s innovative Climate Adaptive Maple Program which will launch in 2025 and is funded by the USDA Acer Access grant. This new program is pioneering research into climate-resilient forest management and sap extraction techniques. Discover how this vital work aims to safeguard the future of Vermont’s sugarbushes and support producers in adapting to a rapidly changing world. Registration is $22 per person.
