A letter about a tax abatement request

Dear Editor,

The Gill Odd Fellows Home needs your help! It is time for us to ask the town and village of Ludlow to grant us a Property Tax Abatement for two years again. The Gill Home is located in both the village and the town, so we would have property taxes for both. We are on the ballots for both the town of Ludlow and the village of Ludlow, two separate votes.

The Gill Home is a home for the elderly and a skilled nursing facility for rehabilitation therapy for adults who have had surgery or a stroke, or an accident resulting in a broken bone. We have served the Ludlow community since 1896, just celebrating our 123rd year. We are a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization.

Only Ludlow – town and village voters – can vote. Others of you who are not Ludlow voters but who want to help can encourage Ludlow voters to vote “yes” for us. Maybe your son or daughter, or other relatives and friends, live in Ludlow and you could encourage them to vote “yes.”

The voting dates are March 5 for the town vote and March 26 for the village vote. Polls are open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., or vote by Absentee Ballot.

You can help us by voting “yes” on town voting day and again voting “yes” on the village voting day. Thank you so much for any help you can give us. We appreciate it very much!

Sincerely,

Theresa Southworth, administrator
