LUDLOW, Vt. – The Book Nook will host young adult author Andrew Simonet for an in-store author event Sunday, July 7 at 2 p.m. Simonet will do a brief talk and be available for book signing and to chat afterward.
Simonet is writer and choreographer in Philadelphia. His debut young adult novel, “Wilder,” was published by Farrar, Straus, and Giroux in November 2018. He is currently writing a novel narrated by a young woman with a developmentally disabled brother. He was a founding co-director of Philadelphia’s Headlong Dance Theater from 1993-2013. He made raucous performance works. He is also an activist and organizer for artists having sustainable lives. He founded Artists U programs in Philadelphia, Baltimore, and South Carolina and wrote “Making Your Life as an Artist.”
“Wilder” takes place in the rural American community of Unionville, where high school senior Jason Wilder recounts his version of what happened with a brash student named Meili Wen from Hong Kong at his school. They first meet in detention and things develop from there and as they find they have more in common than being juvenile delinquents.
The Book Nook invites you to stop the bookshop, located at 136 Main Street in Ludlow, Sunday, July 7 at 2 p.m. to meet Simonet and hopefully pick a copy of “Wilder” to add to your summer reading pile.
