SAXTONS RIVER/SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Springfield Community Chorus concerts this season feature two choral requiems, one by Maurice Duruflé and the other by Gabriel Fauré. Both of these French composers also played both organ and piano. Fauré’s years as a composer spanned from 1865 to the time of his death in Paris in 1924. Duruflé’s years as an active composer were 1920 to 1986. These two requiems will be accompanied by organ and a small ensemble.
The Saturday, April 27 concert will be at 7 p.m. at Christ’s Church, 24 Main Street, Saxtons River, Vt., and the Sunday, April 28 concert, which begins at 3 p.m., will be at the Congregational-UCC Church of Springfield, Vt.
Ken Olsson will direct both concerts. Choral members come from Springfield and surrounding towns including Ludlow, Londonderry, Chester, Weathersfield, Bellows Falls, Vt. and Claremont, N.H.
The concerts are free, but donations are gladly accepted. We appreciate all of our sponsors and would like to recognize ImageTek for their continued sponsorship.
