BELMONT, Vt. – Tie-dying is back, and it’s happening in Belmont Saturday, Aug. 17. Reinbow Riding Center is holding their third annual Summer Palooza, a celebration of summer that includes a barbecue and corn roast, silent auction, live music, and games as well as their tie-dye party.
The fun commences at 3 p.m. at the ODD Fellows Hall and beach on Star Lake. This annual fundraiser is a great family affair. Beginning at 3 p.m. there are fun and games, face painting, haircuts and crazy styling, tie-dying, and a dessert tent. Live music and the barbecue and corn roast begin at 5 p.m.
Inside the hall, there are tables of items up for bid in the silent auction. Not only are there great gift certificates from area restaurants and shops, there are tickets and passes for the Shelburne Museum, Montshire Museum, Weston Playhouse, Paramount Theatre, and more. For the sports enthusiasts, we have a baseball signed by Red Sox pitcher Matt Barnes, Nick Fortiu’s signed hockey jersey, and a photograph of Hall of Famers Gordie Howe, Mark Howe and Nick Fortiu. There are also gift certificates from Tygart Mountain Sports in Ludlow, Basin Sports in Killington, and more. Bakers will find a large basket of Ann Clark cookie cutters and two bottles of homemade vanilla. A special kids’ table includes a selection of Hasbro games. Arts and crafts are well represented with prints and photographs by Alec McCallum, jewelry, pottery, airbrushed t-shirts, and a western red cedar Adirondack chair. There are multiple gift certificates for massages, facials, nails, hair, and acupuncture. On the food front, there is maple syrup, cheeses, and more. Treat yourself to a one-night stay in the King Suite at the Red Clover Inn in Mendon after you enjoy a day at Killington’s Adventure Center.
The auction promises to have something for everyone. If you don’t need it now, Christmas is coming and gift certificates make great gifts. Some of the auction items are listed on Facebook and early bidding has started.
This day of fun is Reinbow Riding Center’s big fundraiser of the year. As a horsemanship center, we provide programs for individuals with unique physical, emotional, and cognitive challenges through a therapeutic equine experience. A great deal of our fundraising efforts goes into providing these programs for little or no cost. Come celebrate the season with us and help us in our mission.
Reinbow Riding Center would like to thank our current Palooza sponsors: Rutland Regional Medical Center, GE Aviation, VELCO, Rutland Veterinary Clinic, Kelley Real Estate, and Green Mountain Sugarhouse. If you would like to be a sponsor, call 802-236-2483 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
