SAXTONS RIVER, Vt. – Painter Carol Keiser of Putney has donated a painting that will be raffled off to support asylum seekers in Windham County.
Keiser’s colorful painting is a fundraiser for the Community Asylum Seekers Project and its work of providing aid and resources to a half dozen adults and children who are currently living in the county while they await their court dates.
Entitled “Yellow Tulips with Woman Reading,” the framed acrylic on canvas measuring 20 by 25.5 inches features a large vase of flowers and a woman who has put down her book to contemplate them.
Chances for the raffle can be purchased by sending a check to CASP, c/o John Bohannon, P.O. Box 268, Saxtons River, VT 05154. The drawing will be held Feb. 21 and the winner notified the following day. The painting can be mailed to the winner anywhere in the continental U.S.
CASP is an all-volunteer, nonprofit corporation founded in 2016 by a small band of Vermonters with a vision of providing a safe haven in their Vermont community for some of those seeking to escape violence and persecution in their home countries. Currently, there are six adults and three children living with families in the area.
