BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. – On Aug. 21, Mary Ann Damato opened her exhibit “Faces,” at Flat Iron Exchange, 51 The Square in Bellows Falls. On Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2019 at 5 p.m. Damato will speak with visitors about her work at an informal reception at Flat Iron Exchange.
Since childhood, Damato has been fascinated by faces. In a recent interview, she said, “I’ve always been enchanted by faces. Each face tells its own story.”
Damato noted that during her extensive travels she is never bored waiting for a bus, a train, or a plane because of the people she finds around her, many who become the subjects of her paintings. This exhibit primarily focuses on the faces, families, and culture of the people of San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico, where she lives part of the year and where she paints and teaches English and art to children.
