SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – The public is invited to join Springfield Garden Club members for the 26th annual Festival of Trees Celebration Friday, Nov. 16, from 6-8 p.m., at the Great Hall, 100 River Street, Springfield, Vt.

The theme this year is “A Vermont Christmas.” Guests will find 25 lit Christmas trees decorated by Garden Club members, fresh wreaths and centerpieces for sale, as well as boxwood trees and other fresh creations.

There will again be a silent auction, raffle baskets, and a corporate tree-decorating contest where guests will vote for their favorite tree. Wine, microbrews, cider, and light hors d’ouevres will be provided. Gerry Grimo & The East Bay Jazz Ensemble will provide music for dancing.

New this year is an outdoor Nature Tree, which can be seen at the Pearl Street entrance. Third grade students from Elizabeth Murphy’s class at Union Street School and first grade students from Susan LeDrew’s class at Elm Street School will be making ornaments and garlands to feed the birds. Special thanks to Meredith Kelley for coordinating this activity. Courtney Lihatsh’s Girl Scout Troop #51308 will also be making pinecones with birdseed for additional winter nourishment.

A gracious thank you to some of our early bird corporate sponsors: Bibens Homecenter, Blackwatch Farms, Byam Control & Measurement, Davis Memorial Chapel, Fauver Dental, Image Tek Labs, Kelly Sales & Service, George W. Lamb PC, The Lihatsh Family, Springfield Housing Authority, and Jamie and Carroll Valthorp.

Tickets are available at the door. All proceeds go to support the community in the form of civic beautification, programs, speakers, and scholarships. Bring a friend or a neighbor and come celebrate “Christmas in Vermont.”
