Golf update from the clubhouse

WARREN, Vt. – On Saturday Aug. 26 and Sunday Aug. 27 Aidan Melville won his first club championship and Lolly Katz won her sixth. Mike Woods and Paul McGowan won the first flight of the men’s championship, gross and net. Carol McGowan prevailed in the ladies net flight.

As of Sept. 5, golf passes for the 2018 season go on sale at the best rates offered. When you purchase a 2018 golf pass, you play the rest of the 2017 season for free.

The Sugarbush Ryder Cup is next weekend, Sept. 9 and 10. We are looking at our biggest field yet for the two-day event, which features a Ryder Cup style format. Team USA and Team Europe will be determined based on handicap indexes. Sign ups end soon, so call the pro shop to sign up.

PGA professional Roger King is looking for players to participate in the upcoming Vermont Pro-Ams at Williston Golf Club on Sept. 11 and Green Mountain National Golf Course on Sept. 18.

The New England Craft Beer Open is on Saturday, Sept. 16 and is open to all pass holders and non-pass holders. It is a 10 a.m. shotgun start and it is a scramble format with all proceeds benefitting the Cystic Fibrosis Lifestyle Foundation. There will be prizes, games, and beer on a number of holes.

Sign ups are available for the 14th annual Charity Golf Tournament for Vermont Troops and Families. The tournament will be held on Sunday, Sept. 17 and will be a 10 a.m. shotgun start. The format is a scramble and there is an entry fee per player, which includes golf, cart, prizes, and dinner at the Common Man after the tournament. We are also looking for donations of prizes and items for the raffle and silent auction or sponsorship of a hole. Also in September, we will be hosting the Vermont Cancer Survivor Network fundraiser golf tournament. It is being held on Sunday, Sept. 24 with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. There is an entry fee, which includes the greens fee, cart, range balls, boxed lunch, prizes, and contests. All proceeds benefit the Vermont Cancer Survivor Network.
