LONDONDERRY, Vt. – Chris Lewit is purchasing the West River Tennis and Fitness Club at 3997 Rte. 100 in Londonderry, which will be renamed the Chris Lewit Tennis Academy.
The 2016-2017 season will feature a 40-week session, with a fee for membership.
Each lead member can bring up to four guests or family members to play during their contract time.
Members can also bring a pro as their guest to play in a group or teach them, but this season there will not be a pro on-staff. The limit is 24 members per year.
The club will be outfitted with an electronic entry system and each member will receive a unique passcode so they can use the club during their designated contract times. There is also free walk-on court time for members in addition to the four contract hours, so members could play at off-peak times that are not filled.
The Lewit family currently has plans to come to the club on various weekends throughout the year and be in residence full-time during the summer. It is possible that in the future, the family may move to the area full-time; but as of now, the Lewit’s will only be up part-time.
If in the future, the family decides to move to the area full-time, Lewit would be teaching at the club and employ a staff; however the family has not made a final decision.
During the summer months, the club will have an excellent staff of coaches on hand, here for the summer camp, and the clay courts out back will be renovated to European red clay.
The club will be setting up an online system for court time signup, creating an accessible, visual display of the availability of court time for each week available to members.
