LUDLOW, Vt. – Summer is winding down, fall is quickly approaching, and with it comes the 2016 Fall Season for Black River Rugby Club. Black River is a Division 4 Men’s Team in the New England Football Rugby Union.

Black River Rugby would like to thank Mark Verespy and The Killarney Irish Pub in Ludlow for their sponsorship again this year! The team is proud to be so closely connected to Killarney and Verespy. It is so much more than a sponsorship and “home-bar!”

This has been a big summer for rugby, with its return to the Summer Olympic Games for the first time since 1924! Intrigued by what you saw? Come out and give it a try!

Practices are held every Thursday at 5 p.m. at Fletcher Farm Field on Rte. 103 in Ludlow. The Black River club is one of only five men’s’ clubs in Vermont; the club is seeking men, ages 18 and up, who want to learn about the game, have experience, want to meet new people, or just want to be more active. Experience is not required – Black River players are at all levels of play and are always happy to teach the game to those interested in learning.

Is spectating more the sport for you? No problem! The team welcomes fans to their games to cheer them on and learn more about the sport.

The first Black River Rugby game of the season will be against Bennington Battle Rugby in Bennington on Saturday, Sept. 3. The team’s first home game of the season will take place on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. at Fletcher Farm Field, against the Boston Ironsides.
