LANGDON, N.H. – Hanover and Keene are the girls’ and boys’ champions respectively in the 2018 Connecticut Valley Track and Field Championships held at Fall Mountain Regional High School the weekend of May 5.
The Bellows Falls girls were the top area finishers with a third place finish behind Hanover 133 and Hartford 69. The Terriers gathered 62 points with Keene and Lebanon with 60 and 55.5 respectively. There were 14 girls’ teams in all, and Fall Mountain placed 10th with 16 points. Springfield didn’t score.
Bellows Falls also had the highest boys’ score as their 50.5 points had them in the fifth spot behind champion Keene at 113, Brattleboro 53, and Hanover and Newport tied with 52 points. Lebanon and Hartford with 39 and 32 followed Bellows Falls. Fall Mountain was eighth with 39. Springfield collected 15 points to place 13th. There were 16 boys’ teams that participated.
Area individual CVC champions included Bellows Falls’s Shane Clark in the javelin, Springfield’s Cadence Wheeler in the triple jump, and Fall Mountain’s Steven Walker in the 300-meter hurdles.
Second place finishers from the area included Clark in the triple jump, Walker in the 110-meter hurdles, Bellows Falls’ Reno Tuttle in the discus, Fall Mountain’s Maddie Parrott in the pole vault – an event that saw Bellows Falls take third, fourth, and fifth with Jaden Luebbery, Hailey Covillion, and Brigid Hodsden respectively. This was the event one that this area seemingly owned. Tuttle also placed third in the shot and fourth in the javelin.
Bellows Falls girls had a second-third tandem in the 300-meter hurdles with Macie Streeter and Michelle Marchica – the latter also had a second place in the triple jump. The Bellows Falls girls had a second in the 4 x 400 relay with a team of Jasmine Boucher, Halle Dickerson, Abbe Cravinho, and Marchica.
