MOUNT HOLLY, Vt. – Norma Elizabeth (Martel) Bixby, 82, passed away at her home Friday, June 1, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Jan. 25, 1936, in Colchester, Vt., the daughter of Leo and Gladys Martel. She graduated from Black River High School in Ludlow, Vt., class of 1955.
She was assistant town clerk in Ludlow for many years before moving to Massachusetts where she worked for Purolator Courier in Boston. Then she moved back to Vermont to retire and spend more time with her family.
She enjoyed playing cards, reading, spending time at the lake with family, and traveling with Connie and Joanne. Her passion was watching the Red Sox. Her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandsons were her life. She enjoyed spending most of her time with them. She will be greatly missed by all of us.
Survivors include three daughters Kathleen Bixby and her husband Don, Jane Bixby and her husband Clifford Hewes of Ludlow, and Joan Garrow and her husband Russ of Mount Holly; two grandchildren Christopher Perrino and his wife Melissa of Ludlow and Meghan Garrow of Mount Holly; two great-grandsons Owen and Landon Perrino of Ludlow; sister Shirley Levenson of Millis, Mass.; and a brother James Martel of Mendon, Vt.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brother William Martel, and sisters Elaine Garland and Jeanne Bissonnette.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Ludlow.
