Nora E. Fletcher, 1932 – 2017

TOWNSHEND, Vt. – Nora E. Fletcher, 85, of Grafton Road, formally of Saxtons River died on June 30, 2017 at her home. Nora was born January 12, 1932 in Newfane, Vt. the daughter of Emmons and Ruby (Winchester) Robinson. She attended school at Leland & Gray in Townshend, VT. Nora worked at Vermont Academy and Whitney Blake. She was a member of the Bellows Falls Moose, BF Senior Center, Abenaki Snowmobile Club and the Red Hats Group, the Gadabout Girls.

Nora spent many summer weekends watching Bill play baseball as well as watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in later years and also watching her beloved Red Sox. She also spent many hours sewing, quilting and making many crafts for family and friends. She spent many wonderful years in Morgan in their family camp and had many lasting friendships around Lake Seymour.

On May 7, 1949 she married William (Billy) Fletcher, Sr. in Grafton, Vt. Nora is survived by three daughters, Ellen Wheeler, and partner Bruce Howard of Venice, Fla., Sherry Bartlett and husband Tom of Venice, Fla. and Debi Stevens and husband Mike of Milton, Vt.; her daughter in law, Maureen Fletcher of Saxtons River: three brothers, Bernard Robinson and wife Elaine of Fla., Wayland Robinson and wife, Nancy of Perkinsville and Wallace Robinson of Mich.; three sisters in law, Marion Robinson of Newfane, Ruth Warren of Ga. and Cora Fletcher of Athens. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she is predeceased by her husband William (Billy) Fletcher, Sr.; son, William Scott, Jr.; two brothers Oscar and Fred Robinson.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the Community Christian Church, Athens, VT at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Harold Noyes officiating. Burial will follow in the Houghtonville Cemetery. Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home, Bellows Falls, is handling the arrangements.
