S. LONDONDERRY, Vt. – Louise (Holton) Howe West, 91, of South Londonderry passed away peacefully April 27, 2018 with her children by her side. Louise was born March 27, 1927 to Leon and Florence (Cone) Holton on Holden Hill in Weston, Vt.
In 1948 Louise married Seth Howe. They made their home in South Londonderry, raising their children until Seth’s passing in 1962.
Louise met and married Everett West in 1968. They enjoyed walking and riding the back roads with their dogs, watching the Red Sox, and spending time with their grandchildren. Everett passed away suddenly in 2003.
Louise was a dedicated (and longest continuous) member of Bone Builders, inspiring many to join. Although she lost most of her sight to macular degeneration, she could often be seen walking on Winhall Hollow Road and in town with one or more dogs. She was famous locally for her baked beans and often provided them for church suppers and family gatherings. She was an avid Red Sox Fan.
Louise is survived by her son Scott Howe, his wife Jennifer, and their two sons Seth and Cullen; her daughter Kathleen Cornell and her husband Peter; her sister Ruthie Rowley; brother Lyle Holton; and many nieces and nephews.
Donations in Louise’s name may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 278, South Londonderry, VT 05155 or Neighborhood Connections, P.O. Box 207, Londonderry, VT 05148.
A celebration of Louise’s life was held at the First Baptist Church in South Londonderry, Vt. on Saturday May 5.
