BALTIMORE, Vt. – John E. Thomas 74, passed away on Sunday evening Aug. 27, 2017 at Mt. Ascutney Health Care Center in Windsor, Vt. He was born May 11, 1943 in Springfield, Vt. the son of Elbridge and Anna (Shepard) Thomas. He attended Springfield Schools, graduating from Springfield High School class of 1962.
Thomas spent his whole life working on the Thomas Family Dairy Farm in Baltimore, Vt. He was a hard worker who loved life. He loved to visit with family and friends and would help out family, friends, and the community of Baltimore when ever needed, sometimes just quietly fixing something or plowing someone’s driveway to help out.
Thomas loved hunting, enjoyed attending fairs, and watching the draft horses and horse pulls.
He held various offices with the town of Baltimore over the years.
He is survived by his daughter Joan Whaley and her husband Mark of Baltimore, daughter-in-law Christy Thomas of Baltimore, sister-in-law Judy Thomas of Baltimore, companion of 34 years Debbie Griswold, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, son Robert Thomas, and brother Shepard Thomas.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday Sept. 9, 2017 at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield, Reverend Jean O’Bresky will officiate.
Friends may call at the Davis Memorial Chapel on Saturday Sept. 9 from 10 to 11 a.m.
A gathering will follow the service at the Thomas Family Farm in Baltimore.
