N. SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Howard D. Hill, 86, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018 at the Gill Odd Fellows Home in Ludlow. He was born May 28, 1932 in Andover, Vt., the son of Harry E. and Eva (Washburn) Hill. He attended local schools.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
On April 7, 1956, he married Marlene L. Liberty in North Springfield, Vt.
He was employed as a machinist with the LoveJoy Tool Company for 38 years. He was a longtime member of the Hawk’s Mountain Ridge Riders, enjoyed snowmobiling, riding motorcycles, and camping. He was also a member of the Robert L. Johnson V.F.W. Post 771 in Springfield.
He is survived by his wife Marlene of Ludlow; two sons Howard D. Hill II of Northwood, N.H. and Daniel R. Hill of North Springfield; three daughters Nancy F. Barror of Springfield, Lorrie Hill of North Springfield, and Stephanie J. Lewis of Woodstock; three brothers Barry Hill, Roy Hill, and Harry Hill; four sisters Ruby Hill, Doris Hill, Darlene Hill, and Patricia Gannaway; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers George Hill, and Daryl Hill, and two sisters Vivian Currier, and Mabel King.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield, Vt. Reverend George Keeler will officiate.
Family and friends may call at the Davis Memorial Chapel for one hour prior to the service on Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gill Odd Fellows Home in Ludlow, Vt., 7 Gill Terrace, Ludlow, VT 05149.
