LUDLOW, Vt. – Charlotte Gladys Sumner was born December 17, 1931, in Ludlow, Vermont and she died on October 22, 2016 at Gill Odd Fellows Home. She was the daughter of Floyd Taylor Sumner and Gladys Armstrong Sumner. She attended the University of Vermont and graduated from Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, Vermont. Initially she was a teacher in the Boston area, but returned to Ludlow to care for her aging parents. Charlotte worked at different schools in Springfield, Vermont as an elementary school teacher and librarian.
Her remaining relatives include the daughters of her sister, Mary Sumner Huber, who died in 1982. They are A. Jane Wallace of Ludlow, Vt., and Holly H. Eddy of Windham, N.H. In addition, she had a great-nephew and three great-nieces and their eight children. She had a passion for reading, Ella Fitzgerald, her many cats, and her beloved Barney. Fourth of July weekend was always one of her favorite holidays, so her family will be celebrating her life together at the family camp. With her sense of humor, her feisty spirit, her sharp mind, and her huge heart, Charlotte was much loved and had a lasting impact on many lives. She will be missed.
