MOUNT HOLLY, Vt. – Annette Theresa LaRoche, 69, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on August 27, 2017 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Goshen, Conn. She was the wife of Joseph Okarmus of Mount Holly.
LaRoche was born on December 6, 1947 in Claremont, N.H., to Edward and Theodora LaRoche. She was orphaned at the age of four and spent her childhood, along with five of her nine brothers and sisters, at Mooseheart, a Loyal Order of Moose home and school for children in Illinois. At Mooseheart, LaRoche excelled in both academics and music.
For most of LaRoche’s professional career, she was a medical administrative assistant for the Cardiac Specialists Group in Fairfield, Conn. After 37 years, she retired and moved with her husband to Mount Holly in 2015. Throughout her professional career, she was happiest when supporting both physicians and their patients.
LaRoche was a devoted mother who sacrificed all she had for her son, Michael. He credits her with being the reason he is a cardiologist today. Her deep love for God and others radiated from her smile. Everyone who knew her, from her years at Mooseheart up until her last months in Goshen under the care of her daughter-in-law and son, were drawn to her.
In addition to her husband, Joseph of Mount Holly, she is survived by her son, Dr. Michael Fowler, and his wife, Dr. Stephanie Fowler, her granddaughter Amanda Fowler and her grandson Eric Fowler, all of Goshen. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Tomkinson and husband Craig of Mount Holly, five brothers: Norman LaRoche of Franklin, N.H., Richard LaRoche and wife Maureen of Chelmsford, Mass., Louis LaRoche and wife Vicki of Ludlow, Mass., Robert LaRoche and wife Claire of Bluffton, S.C., Arthur LaRoche and partner Mary Salvo-Brogan of Fairfield, Conn., stepson, David Okarmus of Richmond, Va., and stepdaughter Susan O’Connell and sons Spencer and Riley of Palm Harbor, Fla., as well as many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
In addition to her parents, LaRoche was predeceased by her sister Kathryn Lyons and brothers Francis LaRoche and Charles LaRoche.
