The Collaborative receives Vermont Mentoring Grant

LONDONDERRY, Vt. – The Collaborative is pleased to receive a Vermont Mentoring Grant of $1,900 from Mobius, Vermont’s Mentoring Partnership. This award will go towards continuing to improve the mentor program provided by The Collaborative in Londonderry.

According to MENTOR, the National Mentoring Partnership, “Research confirms that quality mentoring relationships have powerful positive effects on young people in a variety of personal, academic, and professional situations. Ultimately, mentoring connects a young person to personal growth and development, and social and economic opportunity.”

The Collaborative’s mentor program is school-based for students grades K through eight at Flood Brook School. Mentors meet with their mentee once a week for an hour during after-school hours, 3 to 6 p.m. Mentors do a wide range of activities with their mentees from cooking to sports to arts and crafts. Mentors are invited to events throughout the year including The Collaborative’s annual Harvest Festival Oct. 24, from 5-7 p.m., a winter sleigh ride, and an ice cream social.
