REGION – The Vermont Department of Taxes, Vermont Attorney General T.J. Donovan, and Capstone Community Action will hold a press conference on IRS Telephone Scams on Monday, April 3, to tell Vermonters what they need to know to protect themselves before the April 18 tax filing deadline.

With identity theft and tax scams on the rise across the country, Vermonters should know what to do if they are contacted by a fraudster posing as the IRS or Vermont Department of Taxes. Additionally, if you need assistance filing your taxes, Capstone’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program provides free tax preparation services to thousands of lower income households.
