TOWNSHEND, Vt. – The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Vermont is pleased to announce a new family support group that will be offered in Townshend beginning July 10 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. the second Tuesday of every month. Grace Cottage has partnered with NAMI Vermont to offer the meetings at their Community Wellness Center at 133 Grafton Road.
NAMI Family Support Group meetings are free, monthly 90-minute support groups of family and friends of individuals living with a mental illness where they can talk frankly about their challenges and help one another through their learned wisdom and coping strategies. The support group meetings offer a safe and confidential place to give family members and friends the support they need. With their shared experiences, family members can better understand and support their loved ones living with mental illness while maintaining their own wellbeing. All meetings are facilitated by trained NAMI family members.
“We are pleased to expand our programs and greatly appreciate Grace Cottage offering their Community Wellness Center to conduct this important support group for families who are impacted by mental illness,” said Phil Blackburn, president of NAMI Vermont.
NAMI Vermont’s programs are made possible in part by a grant from the Vermont Department of Mental Health. For more information, contact NAMI Vermont at 1-800-639-6480 or firstname.lastname@example.org or to find a complete list of all of our offerings, visit us at www.namivt.org.
