LUDLOW, Vt. – On Aug. 28, we held our annual summer fellowship meeting at Okemo Valley Golf Course. We began with lunch at Willie Dunn’s followed by a 9-hole scramble. It was hot, funny, friendly, and above all fun! We were all honored to be joined by community member and friend, Harry Gruber, who was on the winning team of Trevor Benson, Tim Faulkner, and Tom Harris. Go Harry!
Robert Fleming, founder of Malayaka House, orphanage in Uganda, and Amy Carst, Malayaka House public relations person and author, shared with us updates. We heard about their new safari business, updates on the pizza business, and updates on the facility, especially the solar energy for which Ludlow Rotary Club was able to play a large part in funding via Rotary grants.
But the very best was the updates on the children: the new babies, the sports, the education, young entrepreneurs, college bound kids, and the aunties. Such a lovely home for these children; it will always be their home and their family.
Please visit www.malayakahouse.org for Robert’s life-changing story, an American in Uganda and how it all began. Ludlow Rotary is always in support of Malayaka House. Please ask any Rotarian for information about the home or if you would like to assist us with your support.
Many thanks to OVGC and Willie Dunn’s for their support of Rotary with this annual event! See you next year.
